Kashmir Solidarity Day 5 Feb 2014 by kashmirvalley-info

To understand the dynamics of observing ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ one needs to peep into the history to learn how Indians occupied Kashmir. When the sub-continent was being divided, it was decided by the Boundary Commission that the princely states had to accede to either Pakistan or India vis-à-vis their geographical location and communal demography. With 87% of Muslim population, Kashmir was naturally to join Pakistan under the partition formula but for Indian mischief, Maharaja Hari Singh, the ruler of Kashmir was forced to accede the state to India. The Maharaja signed the accession to India document in October 1947 and since that fateful day Kashmiris continue to struggle to exercise their right of self determination. Strange as it may sound, the world conscience remains oblivious of the plight and multiple violations of human rights by Indian armed forces despite Kashmiris raising their voices at international forums. One such forum is the United Nations where India had itself taken the Kashmir issue that eventually transformed into an internationally recognized dispute between India and Pakistan.

Indians and the world at large needs to acknowledge that Kashmir dispute is still on the agenda of UN Security Counsel. In fact Kashmir problem was taken to UN Security Council by India. In 47th (1948) Resolution of 21 April 1948 of UN Security Council India accepted Kashmir as a disputed area and resolved to solve the issue through impartial plebiscite, which never took place. India has a long history of deceitful dealings with Pakistan and has continuously mutilated the rights of the people of Kashmir. Under these circumstances it would be binding on the government and people of Pakistan to extend moral and diplomatic support to the people of occupied Kashmir in their struggle for independence from Indian oppression. One only wishes that the biggest democracy of the world becomes democratic and stops unlashing atrocities against hapless Kashmir’s. That will pave the way for the regional development providing relief to the largest concentration of people living below poverty line in the world. Only if Indian leadership understands.

You are remembered for the rules you break. (Douglas MacArthur )

I have just one simple question to ask that if Kashmir Singh could be pardoned then why the Valley of Kashmir can’t be set free, that is suffering at the hands of the Indians since the last over half a century. Why the civilised nations of the world do not care for the bleeding wounds of the Valley? Why the champions of human rights, friends to the oppressed nations and intellectuals do not raise their voices that, “if just one person named Kashmir Singh could be set free, why couldn’t Kashmir the name of millions also be allowed to breathe freedom”?

The people of Azad Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, Aksai Chin and Trans-Karakoram Tract need to gain an identity of their own, a place to call home, and most importantly to gain the Freedom from genocides and other attacks of terror that they receive. The people of Kashmir deserve a better and SAFE life style not only for themselves, but to better the future that they hold. The Conflict with Kashmir has been one of the oldest unresolved disputes in the world. The people of Kashmir deserve an identity, and deserve to cherish the values, and cultural beliefs that are among the Kashmiri people, that are slowly being lost. The Kashmiri people have suffered for a long time, and have been innocently killed for being in between the wars India, Pakistan and China have had. We the people of Kashmir are not ordinary people. We too have a voice that can be heard from miles, but it just seems no one’s brave enough to step in and help us. No one can HELP the Kashmiris gain a good Education, good Healthcare, good Jobs, good Everything etc…BUT if everybody joins hands in this cause they will Help THE KASHMIRI People Gain Freedom and Be able to have Everything and more. We need a safe place for our children, adults, and elders to grow. We need our education that most Kashmiris don’t even receive because there are no schools in their area or teachers to be found, and Healthcare let’s not even go down that road. By Helping Spread Awareness about the issues on Our occupied home Kashmir we all can shed a small spark, which in turn could become a light for all of us. Please put fourth your opinions and why We deserve freedom, and the benefits we as Kashmiris will have. Every Signature is one step further to freedom. Everyone deserves to have a voice, and it is everyone’s right to have Freedom and we want the right that’s been taken from us many years ago back. Remember Every Voice(signature) counts.
