Protest strike is being observed, Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) , to mark the 27th October as Black Day to convey to the world that the Kashmiris reject India’s illegal occupation on Jammu and Kashmir.

Call for the shutdown has been given by Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organizations and the High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory, KMS reported.

All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road. The puppet authorities have deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and other major towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations.

The puppet authorities have imposes restrictions in different areas including SafaKadal, Khanyar and Nowhatta in Srinagar.

On the other hand, the authorities had placed Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, and Mohammad Aiyaz Akbar under house arrest to stop them from leading the demonstrations.

It was on this day in 1947 when Indian troops had invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total disregard to the partition plan of the Subcontinent and against the aspirations of the Kashmiris. The United Nations Security Council passed several resolutions mandating a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir to determine the future of the territory.
