Islamabad seminar on sham elections in occupied Kashmir
Dec 15th, 2014 | Category: Kashmir NewsThe Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapters of Gilani-led forum and Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir (HCJK) held a joint seminar in Islamabad to reveal facts about the election dramas being held in occupied Kashmir under the Indian Constitution.Addressing the seminar, the speakers said that the so-called elections had no legal status and could not be substitute to right to self-determination. They said that the United Nations in its resolutions had made it clear that any kind of election in the territory would not affect the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.
They said that the sham elections being conducted in presence of lakhs of Indian troops was nothing but a military exercise. They said that the detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists in jails and police stations was a blot on the so-called democratic face of India.
The speakers demanded of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon to take solid steps for peaceful and permanent settlement of Kashmir dispute and put pressure in India to stop human rights violations in the territory.
The speakers expressed concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and prayed for his early health recovery.
The seminar was addressed among others by Ghulam Miohammad Safi, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, AJK Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Yaqoob, AJK Jamat-e-Islami leader, Noorul Baari, Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri, Altaf Hussain Wani, Mohammad Rafiq Dar, Ishtiaq Hameed, Shamima Shawl, Advocate Pervez Ahmad Shah, Abdul Hameed Lone, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Abdullah Gul, Sardar Razaq Advocate and Dr Khalid Aftab Suheria.
