Indian Human Rights Commission seeks report on Ramban killings
Jul 26th, 2013 | Category: Kashmir NewsIndia’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Government of India and the police of occupied Kashmir to submit a report on the incident of firing in Gool area of Ramban district that resulted in the killing of four protesters. Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the National Human Rights Commission asked the Indian Home Secretary and the Director General of Police, occupied Kashmir, to file the report within four weeks.
“The reports of incident, if true, is a serious case of human rights violation,” the NHRC observed.
On July 18, four people were killed and 44 others injured when the troops of Indian Border Security Force fired on the people protesting against desecration of Holy Quran and beating of an Imam by the BSF troops.
