Srinagar, November 10 : In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has strongly condemned the use of excessive and brute force by Indian police and paramilitary personnel against the people at Nowhatta and Zainakote who were peacefully protesting against the cold-blooded murder of an innocent youth, Gowhar Ahmad Dar.
The veteran leader has decided to hold a condolence meeting in the memory of martyred Gowhar at Zainakote, tomorrow (Wednesday), and has appealed to people to participate in the event to pay tributes to the martyred youth.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the occupation forces in Kashmir only know the language of force, atrocity and cruelty and they want to solve every issue through power. “The CRPF and police used excessive force and fired hundreds of tear smoke shell on the mourners in Zainakote resulting in the death of maternal grandmother of martyred Gowhar Ahmad Dar, who was already in a state of shock, due to the suffocation,” he pointed out. “The people in the area are protesting against the killing of the innocent student and are demanding the removal of the CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles camps from the locality,” he added.
“The forces also went berserk in Nowhatta and broke windows of dozens of houses and the mosques. They damaged dozens of vehicles parked on the roads in the downtown area of Srinagar, which is sheer hooliganism on the part of the Indian forces,” the veteran leader maintained.
While lashing out at the RSS-backed puppet administration, he said, “The PDP-led regime in Kashmir is on the killing spree in the Valley and it is doing all this to appease its masters in New Delhi.”
Syed Ali Gilani said Jammu and Kashmir has been converted into a battle ground where Indian forces are using excessive and brutal forces against the public who are peacefully protesting for their just demands. “On one hand, the Indian troops are killing our innocent children and on the other, we are not being allowed to mourn the killings of our loved ones,” he deplored.
“It is the worst kind of state which the people of Kashmir are facing since last 68 years,” he added.
