Foreign Minister Hina calls on India to stop killing innocent Kashmiris
Feb 7th, 2013 | Category: ArticlesForeign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Wednesday called on India to exercise restraint and stop killing innocent Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir.
Those responsible for such crimes should be brought to justice, the foreign minister said in her address to a meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir here.
She said India must also take steps for early release of political prisoners and repeal the draconian laws. She said Pakistan had entered into dialogue with India in good faith to amicably resolve the Kashmir dispute. “We are earnestly implementing the cross-LoC confidence building measures to bring relief to the divided families and mitigate the suffering of the Kashmiris on either side of the line of control.
Hina further said resolution of the Kashmir dispute was imperative for peace and stability in South Asia and to ameliorate the suffering of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan, she added, was committed to finding a just and peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiris.
The minister told the Organisation of Islamic Conference summit that the Kashmiris should be associated with the dialogue process. “We hope the India government would reciprocate Pakistan’s principled approach and initiate appropriate measures for an early resolution of the longstanding dispute,” she remarked.
Regretting the hostile statements that emanated from India following the violations at the LoC‚ Hina said, “We are ready to work with the United Nations Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan to carry out an independent inquiry into the ceasefire violations. We would also welcome an OIC fact-finding mission to investigate the recent incidents of ceasefire violations along the line of control.”
