India in oblivion of all international standards and norms has submitted a complaint at a police station in the country against Google for showing in its online map Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory.

The Survey of India (SOI) lodged the complaint against the multinational search giant at Dehradun police station, the other day.

Top officials of SOI has confirmed that a complaint has been submitted at Dalanwala police station after its technical wing scrutinized the maps in different sites.

“The faulty coordinates were noticed in Jammu & Kashmir and the northern side of India which are not as per our maps. The decision to file a written complaint was taken after consulting the highest level of authority,” said a senior official.

Station officer Dalanwala Anil Joshi told media, “We are trying to establish the authenticity of the complaint.”

He said that the matter was being handed over to cyber cell for further investigation. “The cyber cell team will look into the allegations following which the next course of action will be decided,” Joshi added.

Cyber experts said that Google is an international search engine, which has to keep in view the positions of the United Nations and not a particular country’s claim while depicting maps of the countries.
