In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmir Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani reiterating conditions for any talks with India has asked New Delhi to create a conducive atmosphere for resolution of the Kashmir dispute by taking several confidence building measures.

A spokesman for the forum patronised by Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar in response to the to puppet Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar’s Republic Day speech said that the veteran leader had asked India to “accept Kashmir as a dispute, announce demilitarization, revoke draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and release all prisoners.”

Syed Ali Giani said that the talks should not be aimed at coercing people of Kashmir.

Ali Mohammad Sagar had asked the Hurriyet leadership to enter the dialogue process.

The veteran leader said that the forum had been saying that for the resumption of dialogue process, a suitable ground should be prepared and certain conditions need to be fulfilled. “Delhi is expecting us to enter into a dialogue but on the other hand they have not stopped committing human rights violations. We won’t be a party to this kind of dialogue process. We will not go to Delhi for a cup of tea,” he said.

“It is true that a complicated dispute will only be solved through dialogue process. But a dialogue process should be based on honesty from both the sides. One is where both parties to the dispute are in favour of finding a lasting solution but the other is who want people of Kashmir to bring into submission by giving them some favours,” the spokesman said.
