In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik’s indefinite hunger strike entered the third day, today, as Maisuma observed a shutdown against police atrocities and arrest of youth in the territory, the other day

JKLF Vice Chairman Showkat Bakshi in a media interview said that Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment at Soura Medical Complex in Srinagar, refused medication despite low blood pressure.

Another JKLF leader, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed, said the police were overstepping their bounds by harassing people for expressing their political sentiments.

On the other hand, APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in their statements condemned the police crackdown on youth in Maisuma and other areas.

“On one hand Kashmiris are being subjected to wanton suppression while on the other the authorities are using force to crush the peaceful voices, raised against these injustices,” the Mirwaiz said in a statement.

Syed Ali Gilani while demanding immediate release of the youth said that the police were waging a war against people who boycotted or protested against the election drama.
