Yasin Malik’s hunger strike continues for 3rd day

In occupied Kashmir, the hunger strike observed by the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik continued for the third consecutive day, today.

A senior JKLF leader, Showkat Bakhshi in a media interview said that Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is undergoing treatment for kidney ailment at Soura Medical Complex in Srinagar, even refused to take medicine in protest. Muhammad Yasin Malik is observing the hunger strike against the highhandedness of police and paramilitary forces in the territory.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and the forum led by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in their statements deplored that the Kashmiris were being subjected to wanton suppression. They said that the authorities were using force to crush the peaceful voices of freedom in the territory.

The Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India and its local collaborators had waged a war on civilian population by unleashing an arrest spree and nocturnal raids in the territory. The statement condemned the harassment of youth after the recent election drama. It said that the authorities were hell-bent upon resolving every issue by the dint of gun.

On the other hand, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Patron, Bhim Singh in a letter to the Indian Chief Election Commissioner, V S Sampath said that the Electronic Voting Machines were manipulated in the sham elections, recently held in the territory. He said that occupied Kashmir had never witnessed free and fair elections. Bhim Singh asked the Election Commissioner to set up an expert committee to probe the polling trends in the constituencies where the turnout was claimed to be high.
