In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership has called for a complete shutdown in Gaw Kadal and its adjacent areas of Srinagar Saturday (January 21) to pay tributes to the massacre victims.

The leadership in a statement also called for a complete shutdown in Handwara and Kupwara on January 25 and 27 respectively.

The statement said, “Observing the martyrdom anniversaries of these people every year not only reminds people of the atrocities carried by the Indian forces but also gives people the strength and makes them more determined to carry forward the resistance movement to its logical conclusion and make the mission of these martyrs a national mission and mission for every Muslim.”

Programmes would be held in connection with the anniversaries on January 21 at Gaw Kadal, January 25 at Handwara, and January 27 at Kupwara, the statement added.

Paying glowing tributes to the 1990 martyrs of the GawKadal, Handwara and Kupwara massacres on their martyrdom anniversaries, the joint leadership said “The selfless sacrifices of these martyrs would not be allowed to go waste as the deep wounds and scars of Kashmiris would not be healed by the fake slogans of ‘healing touch’”

They said that people would once again resolve not to rest till the mission of these martyrs reaches its ultimate conclusion, the leaders said.
