The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has said invasion of Kashmir and its annexation by India on October 27, 1947 continues to be the root-cause of tension and conflict in South Asia.Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would never kneel before the invading forces of India; they would continue their unrelenting struggle for the achievement of the right to self-determination according to the relevant resolutions of the UNCIP.

He described it as a long struggle for freedom which began in 1947, and reached its current phase with many ups and downs and upheavals.” India at the time of invasion assured of military withdrawal to Pakistan, international community, and the people of the state, but broke her promises by the persistent rearmament and reinforcement of its military, contrary to the UN SC resolutions, during the past 67 years.

He said India’s volt-face had every time damaged peace in the South Asia destabilized the region; and ignited war, the latest example being firing on the Working Boundary and the so-called LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said India has closed the state for international human rights agencies as early as 1947, and never allowed any relief agency to assess the damage caused by floods or dispatch necessary relief-items of medicine and food, during the September record-floods in the State. India had never any moral appeal in Kashmir, depending from day one on her military power derived from an illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir.

“This time again the people of the State appeal to the UN to bring India on a dialogue table to resolve the conflict in line with the Security Council resolutions, lest the current border clashes may stir up a full-scale war to the destruction of a mass of humanity in the most populous part of Asia,” he concluded.
