India has no right to celebrate Republic Day in IHK: Shabbir

Srinagar, January 17 : Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has said that India has no right to celebrate the Republic Day in occupied Kashmir and asked New Delhi to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self determination.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India continued to usurp the democratic right of Kashmiris by illegally occupying Kashmir and denying the people their right to self-determination.

He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been fighting for their democratic inalienable right and Indian Republic Day had no relevance in Kashmir. He said, “We don’t want to hurt the sentiments of Indian people, but there is no other option to show our anger.”

Shabbir Ahmad Shah deplored that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world, but it had usurped the freedom of Kashmiri people. He also castigated the puppet administration for subjecting people to harassment and intimidation in the name of so-called security measures.

He said that India had promised with the Kashmiri people that they would be given right to self-determination at any appropriate time but despite the passage of over six decades, New Delhi yet to honour it promise.

He said that the people of Kashmir would continue their liberation struggle till complete success. He added that hundreds of thousands Kashmiris had sacrificed their lives and their struggle would not be allowed to go waste.
