Srinagar, January 21 : The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the permanent peace in South Asia is not possible until Kashmir dispute is resolved as per aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed satisfaction over the present truce at the Line of Control, but added that a future war between Pakistan and India could not be ruled out unless the Kashmir dispute was addressed in its historical perspective.

The veteran leader termed the statements of Indian politicians as “ridiculous” and praised the Pakistani politicians for demonstrating sense and reacting in a decent manner, which avoided further deterioration of the already tense situation.

He criticized the role of Indian media saying that they were the most irresponsible media in the world that did not behave in an impartial way nor did perform their duty with sense and responsibility. “Kashmir problem is the root cause of border conflicts and it may prove disastrous in the region,” he added.

“Kashmir is a flashpoint and a danger for the peace and prosperity of South Asia,” he said urging the international community to play its role for holding referendum in Jammu and Kashmir.
