In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Patron, Bhim Singh has said that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were manipulated in recently concluded sham elections in the territory.

Bhim Singh in a letter to Indian Chief Election Commissioner, V S Sampath said that occupied Kashmir had never witnessed free and fair elections.

“The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s 9 election rallies in J&K created chaos and confusion and his arrival deprived all opposition parties to hold their respective rallies in the districts where Prime Minister addressed and organized his helicopter-borne rallies in utter violation of all the election rules and laws thus shredding all the norms in the Model Code of Conduct,” he added.

“The functioning of EVMs has always remained under question. Manipulation of EVMs and programming it to the convenience of the interested parties having absolute control over the machine and its physical handling suggest that it is only because of this reason that polling has been recorded” so high.

Singh urged the Chief Election Commissioner of India to set up an expert committee to probe the polling trends in the constituencies where the polling was recorded high
