Big protest demonstration held in Srinagar

In occupied Kashmir, a big protest demonstration was held at Budshah Chowk in Srinagar, today, to attract the attention of the world community towards the sufferings of the Kashmiri people as a result of recent devastating floods in the territory.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing the protesters demanded the intervention by the international community to help out the affectees. He denounced the negligence shown by the Government of India towards the miseries of the Kashmiri people. APHC leader, Javed Ahmad Mir and others also spoke on the occasion.

Various delegations headed by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash during their visits to the flood-hit areas criticized the Indian government for blocking relief coming from the international community.

The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society in a statement issued in Jammu said that the utter failure of puppet administration in disaster preparedness, management and response had aggravated the situation in the territory.

A number of voluntary activists in their media interviews disclosed that the Indian authorities at Delhi and Mumbai airports stopped the consignments being sent as relief to the flood victims in occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Indian troops during a violent military operation martyred a Kashmir youth in Lolab, today. The operation was going on till last reports came in.

In Washington, the Kashmiri American Council and members of Sikh community staged protest outside the White House on the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend a private dinner. He was also due to meet President Obama and other key US officials. A broad coalition of organisations and individuals under the umbrella Alliance for Justice and Accountability greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi with protests outside the Madison Square Garden. The demonstrators carrying posters and banners were shouting slogans against Modi.
